COMMUNICATION INTERFACES IN COMPRESSOR CONTROL SYSTEM

COMMUNICATION INTERFACES IN COMPRESSOR CONTROL SYSTEM

Network interface

The CCS is equipped with two network switches which provide communication between the CCS (MicroNet), PDW.
• Redundant communication between PDW and MicroNet system.
• Redundant communication between all engineering workstation.
The network architecture is described in the document NMR602.17 “System Architecture Drawing”.
The CCS cabinet contains two Cisco IE-3000 Industrial Network switches for redundant operation. An image of the applied switches can be found in Cisco IE-3000

A product spec of the switches applied in the CCS control systems can be found in on http://www.cisco.com.
The CCR contains two Cisco IE-3010 Industrial 19 Inch 1-RU switches, mounted in a Network System Cabinet. An image of the applied switches can be found in  Cisco IE-3010.
A product spec of the switches can be found on http://www.cisco.com.
There is no communication between CCS and ESD hence all ESD signals between are hardwired.

HART Communication Interface

The CCS cabinet is equipped with a HART multiplexer for smart transmitters hence all HART field devices that are interfaced to the IAMS using this HART multiplexer. The CCS is completely transparent for HART information.
The HART system from Pepperl& Fuchs used is the K-System and will be used in all CCS cabinets.
It provides the connection between the plant IAMS (as part of PCS) and the intelligent HART compatible field devices via an RS485 serial interface. All actions on the field device are parallel to the transmission of the 4-20 mA measurement signals and have no influence on the measurement value processing through the process control system.
The HART system has the following features:

• Fast activation of new systems through uniform data that is made available in the form of a database by various software packages. The standard parameters must be transmitted only from a central PC to the field units.
• Online monitoring of operations in accordance with ISO 9000
• Layered service field parallel to the measurement processing in the control
• Constant overview of all process variables
• Simple fault diagnosis via monitor functions
Easy manipulation of the software by means of a Windows-based control display
• Exploitation of existing, intelligent field instruments
All HART related operations will be done by others.

The components used for HART are:
• KFD-2-HMM-16, HART Multiplexer Master–
• KFD-0-HMS-16, HART Multiplexer Slave
• FI-PFH-127720, HART Multiplexer Termination Board used for Analog Outputs
• FI-PFH-110469, HART Multiplexer Termination Board used for Analog Inputs
Specifications of the HART Multiplexer equipment can be found on http://www.pepperl-fuchs.us/
