INTRODCTION TO WELDING PROCESS

    1. Heat Input = Amps x Volts/ Travel Speed x 1000       kj/min.
    2. Unit of Travel speed is mm/sec.
    3. Heat input is mainly influenced by Travel speed.
    4. Travel Speed id\s mainly influenced by Welding Process & Welding Position.
    5. Vertical -Up (PF) position is Highest Heat Input Position.
    6. Vertical -Down (PG) position is Lowest Heat Input Position
    7. S.A.W Process is a Highest Heat Input Process
    8. MIG/MAG & TIG Process is a Lowest Heat Input Process
    9. Arc length is directly proportional to Arc Voltage.
    10. Penetration Depth is directly proportional to CURRENT.
    11. Bead Width is directly proportional to VOLTAGE.
    12. Polarity used for S.A.W, M.I.G / M.A.G & M.M.A Welding Process is D.C.E.P and 2/3rd heat is produced at electrode and melts it to forms a weld pool.
    13. Polarity used for T.I.G Welding Process is D.C.E.N  1/3rd heat is produced at electrode and it doesn’t melt.  
    14. A.C Current is used for Welding Aluminum using T.I.G Welding Process.
    15. Constant Current Power Supply (or) DROPING CHARACTERISTIC is used in M.M.A & T.I.G welding Process
    16. Constant Voltage power Supply (or) FLAT CHARACTERISTIC is used in S.A.W & MIG/MAG Welding Process.
    17. Deflection of arc due to magnetic attraction is called arc blow.
    18. If arc blow is a problem in MMA / SAW then use AC Current.
