5. GENERAL

All workers who are involved in plumbing work shall be oriented to the nature of work, to ensure that the procedure is followed accordingly and to assure that the safety requirements is strictly adhered. The contractor shall check all documents to ensure that the work is being carried out following  the latest revision of issued IFC drawing.

7 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Site Manager

The Site Manager shall be responsible for the over-all direction, coordination and control of all the construction and HSE activities attached and related to the plumbing works.

Construction Manager

The Construction Manager shall report to and receive technical direction from the Site Manager. He shall be responsible for the overall implementation and monitoring of all the activities involve in the plumbing works.

Quality Control Engineer

The Quality Control Engineer shall be responsible for conducting work surveillance and inspection duties to ensure an efficient recording/reporting of results is carried out. He shall review relevant documents, material certificates and conformance reports in relation to his duties.
He shall receive and act accordingly to all internal inspection requests from various work departments and prepare the request for inspection according to schedule priorities and communicate with QC inspector according to requirements.

Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector shall be responsible to carry out the inspections of work. He shall attend hold point inspections and sign corresponding work releases by reviewing records and test results as proof that work inspected conforms to specification.

Plumbing Engineer

The Plumbing Engineer shall be responsible for carrying out the work procedure and ensures that all the installation is carried out in accordance with the project specifications and manufacturer’s instruction. He shall see to it that all equipment/material be handled carefully during transport, handling, storage and protected from any damage before and after installation.

Site Supervisor

The Field Supervisor shall report to and receive project direction from the Construction Manager. He shall be directly involved in the planning and execution of the plumbing work activities. Prior to the start of work he shall prepare, a safety Action Plan that must be implemented and observed during the plumbing work.

Surveyor

The Surveyor shall perform and check all elevations as per the required slope.

Foreman

The Foreman shall be responsible for the direct execution of works involve in the plumbing work according to the plan and shall directly control and give instruction to the working personnel. He shall also ensure that works are done with utmost regard to safety and quality.

Safety Supervisor

Safety Manager shall oversee and enforce the safety regulations and ensure that all personnel involved in the work will abide. He shall prepare prior to the start of the work a safety plan that must be implemented and observed during the plumbing works and safety awareness of workers during the activity

8 WORK PROCEDURE

8.1 Plumbing Fixtures and Piping Specialties

8.1.1 The plumbing fixtures and specialties shall be the standard product of an equipment manufacturer regularly engaged in the fabricating and manufacturing of such equipment.
8.1.2 The manufacturer and the product detail for the materials used in the project should have client approval prior to installation.

8.1.3 All the plumbing fixtures and the piping specialties shall be provided as shown on the approved IFC drawing.

8.2 Drainage Waste System

8.2.1 The drainage waste system shall be designed, fabricated and installed in accordance with International Plumbing Code & SAES-S-060.
8.2.2 All drainage waste piping system shall be schedule 40PVC pipe conforming to ASTM D2665.
8.2.3 All fittings shall be socket type. All joints shall be clean and free from moisture.
8.2.4 Primer and solvent shall conform to ASTM D2564. Solvent cement joints shall be permitted above and below ground.
8.2.5 All solvent welds shall be in accordance with solvent cement manufacturer’s instruction.
8.2.6 Drainage piping for future fixtures shall be terminated with an approved cap or plug.
8.2.7 Piping labels shall be provided for each pipe.

9 INSPECTION

The QC Inspector and COMPANY PID shall carry out the necessary tests and inspections in various stages during the plumbing works. Inspections shall be based on prepared ITP and Project Specifications listed within this Method Statement.

9.1 All stage wise inspections before and after installation shall be carried out as per approved ITP.
9.2 Hydrostatically test all drainage and vent piping at 3 meter (10feet) water column and it shall remain constant for one hour.
9.3 Piping shall not be embedded or concealed until it is tested and proven tight.

10 SAFETY PLAN

Safety Inspector shall carry out the safety site inspections to ensure that safety requirements laid out by the Contractor are followed during the plumbing work. Safety Manager shall prepare Safety Action Plan prior to start of any activities at various stages of the plumbing work. Barricades shall be set up around the area. Warning signs shall be posted to caution other personnel on site of the ongoing work. The material Safety Data Sheet of a hazardous material shall be available on site whenever in use, and only trained and skilled personnel shall be allowed to handle and work with it. Personal protection equipment shall be provided to all personnel involve in the job.
