ELEVATOR INSTALLATION PROCEDURE | METHOD STATEMENT
1.0 PURPOSE
This method statement shall provide minimum guidelines to carry out the installation of elevator for plants and refinery projects to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with Project Drawings and Project Specifications.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This method statement will cover the installation of elevator at plants and refinery projects.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITY
4.1 Construction Manager is responsible for implementing HSE and shall study, analyze and schedule all construction activities with his department to include manpower and equipment line up as well as other possible resources required for the successful implementation of the construction work activities. Study all aspects of work procedure as per Technical Scope of Work.
4.2 Mechanical Supervisor shall study and review all necessary documents for the rectification works in his area. He shall monitor the availability of materials in accordance with the schedules and construction analysis. He shall be directly reporting to the Construction Manager. He shall coordinate with other discipline to visualize possible conflicts in the drawings as well as in the schedules to provide other options in preventing unnecessary delays obstructions.
4.3 Mechanical Foreman shall be responsible for the direct work supervision at site and ensure that the work is performed safely. He shall monitor the activity.
4.4 QC Inspector shall be responsible in monitoring and inspection of the work and ensure that the work is performed in accordance with Technical Scope of Work and Standards.
4.5 Safety Officer/Supervisor shall be responsible in monitoring safety aspects and ensuring that the work is done in accordance with Safety Standard Procedure. He shall discuss to the field supervisor’s the characteristics of related materials and status of work area giving reminders as an additional point to work safely.

6.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
6.1 Tools and equipment needed should be in good condition and must be checked by Mechanical Supervisor / Safety Officer prior to use in the good condition area. These includes but not limited as below:

7.0 METHODS / PROCEDURES
7.1 Preparation Works
7.1.1 Secure work permit from concerned personnel prior to start of work/activity.
7.1.2 Install scaffold if required (by others)
7.1.3 Prepare all materials or tools needed for the job.
7.1.4 Confirm the turn-over of foundation from civil works group (by others) for the installation of structural steel. Secure valid turn-over notice/ Work transfer sheet (WTS) from Contractor.
7.1.5 Check its dimension, levelness, alignment, anchor bolt projection, top of concrete elevation, surface finish and others are in accordance with IFC drawings and within acceptable tolerances.
7.1.6 The ground were crane will position shall be compacted and stabilized.
7.1.7 Identify the structure members for leave-out due to installation of equipment and pre-requisites.
7.1.8 All structural delivered in the area shall be workable and erectable to avoid congestion.
7.1.9 Pre-assembly of member shall be done accordingly considering weight, width and length of member for lifting purposes.
7.1.10 The structures shall be carefully assembled in accordance with the
marking of each piece, in strict compliance with erection drawings.
7.1.11 All roof panels and wall panels must be clean and in good condition prior to installation.
7.1.12 Check elevator components and accessories it must be complete and in good condition.
7.2 Erection of Structural Members
7.2.1 Erection of structural members shall be in accordance with approved method statement 1770-MS-STRL-001.
7.2.2 Pre-assembled materials shall be initially tightened to snug tight condition. Final bolt tightening shall be done upon acceptance of plumbness and alignment of erected structures. Grouting shall be done after final bolt tightening.
7.3 Erection of Roof Panels
7.3.1 Ensure lifelines are securely installed at rooftop. Access to rooftop by way of scaffolds shall be made ready and approve safe for use.
7.3.2 Using a crane, lift roof panel(s) to rooftop. Steel workers at roof will received the lifted panel(s). Worker will position the panel(s) to its intended locations.
7.3.3 Position accurately panels on supporting framework. Adjust accordingly to final position with proper bearing before securing.
7.3.4 After aligning, secure the panel using the specified fastener with fastener/screw gun. Fastener location shall be as shown in drawing.
7.3.5 Install the next panels progressively as above. Note the correct orientation of each panel. Anticipate the requirement for lapping, end trims, joint filler and weather sealant.
7.3.6 On selected locations and as shown in drawings, install the ridge vents as per manufacturer’s standard drawings.
7.4 Erection of Wall Panels
7.4.1 Ensure panels to be rigged are firm and steady during installation.
7.4.2 Using one crane, lift panel from pick location and place it on designated position. Double choke nylon slings on panels to erect.
7.4.3 Position accurately panels on supporting framework. Adjust accordingly to final position with proper bearing before securing.
7.4.4 After aligning, secure the panel using the specified fastener with fastener/screw gun.
7.4.5 Install the next panels progressively as above, Take note the correct orientation of each panel. Anticipate the requirement for lapping, end trims, joint filler and weather sealant.
7.4.6 For required openings, field cut to suit. Exercised with care drilling and cold cutting using reciprocating saw/ cut-off wheel or snip. Metal filings, drill shavings, and burrs shall be removed from adjacent surface prior to panel erection.
7.4.7 Components and accessories to complete the wall panel assembly such as clips, seam covers, and similar items shall be installed.
7.5 Assembly and installation of Elevator
The machine shall only be assembled, operated and maintained by authorized persons who can be guaranteed to act properly on the basis of their training or knowledge and practical experience, and who are aware of the hazards. These persons must be appointed to the tasks of installation, dismantling and maintenance by the operating company.
7.5.1 Refer to installation and assembly instruction see attachment B for details.
7.5.2 Equipment test before delivery must have been carried out prior to delivery.
7.5.2.1 ATEX check by an external test centre (for explosion protected machine).
7.5.2.2 Dynamic drop test of safety gear with 125% of the maximum payload.
7.5.2.3 Electrical tests according to EN 60204.
7.5.2.4 Function tests.
8.0 QUALITY CONTROL
8.1 ARCC QC Inspector will be present at site during the activity to ensure that the activity will not generate stress on the structure.
8.2 QC Inspector will produce all the documents attesting to the acceptability of the works and submits to client.
8.3 ARCC QC Inspector has to utilize the applicable SATIP’s & SAIC’s for every activity.
9.0 SAFETY PRECAUTION
9.1 Approved work permit should be obtained to concerned personnel prior to the start any activities.
9.2 Work execution shall be carried out in accordance with this method of statement.
9.3 The necessary manpower inclusive of supervisory staff, tools, equipment, materials, and other resources required must be made available and ready to use.
9.4 During the activity, closely supervision shall be done by field foreman.
9.5 All workers shall wear as a minimum PPE required below.
9.5.1 Safety Helmet

9.5.4 Gloves
9.5.5 Safety Harness (Full Body Harness)
9.6 Sufficient lightings shall be provided if work is done at night time. Work at night shall be approved by client.
9.7 Good housekeeping must be maintained in the duration of works.
9.8 Safety Officer/Supervisor shall monitor compliance of entire working crew to safety procedure until the work is fully completed.
9.9 ARCC shall make sure that all shall be incident and injury free.
9.10 The area shall blocked by physical barricade or warning tapes during activities is to be done to ensure safety.
