REPAIR WORKS OF CONCRETE WALLS METHOD STATEMENT

1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe in detail the appropriate requirement for repairing reinforced concrete walls for buildings. This Method Statement shall be communicated and be understood by all personnel associated with the tasked before commencing the activity.

2. OBJECTIVE

The objective of the work activities enumerated herein is to facilitate the construction structure and plant facilities under the above referenced project.

3. SCOPE

This Method Statement Covers the Application of Selected/Approved repair Material SikaRep from Sika Co. Ltd, for use to repairing of RCC walls for buildings as per related Aramco standard & manufacturer recommendations.

4. DEFINITIONS

(6) Method Statement: A method statement is a written document detailing how a particular task or activity will be carried out.

6.2 Human Resources

7. KEY PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES

7.1 SITE MANAGER

Site Manager is responsible to provide the site with appropriate site teams and resources to ensure that work are done in accordance with the project quality requirements.

7.2 CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

He is responsible to ensure the full implementation of this method statement and identify the requirements and maintain sufficient resources for the effective accomplishment of the scope of work for repair works and responsible for implementing HSE.

7.3 SITE ENGINEER/ SUPERVISOR

He is responsible to ensure full compliance of all foreman, workers and helpers within the project requirements and specifications. Confirm the availability of all materials, tools, equipment, and required Personnel who will carry out the work.

7.4 QC MANAGER/ SUPERVISOR

He is responsible to ensure the full implementation of the required minimum quality requirements, Procedures and maintain the required documentation as per applicable company inspection and test Plan for the final acceptance and handover of document.

7.5 QC INSPECTOR

He is responsible to conduct daily surveillance and inspections as necessary in accordance with this procedure and project quality requirement. Prepare quality control records and secure readiness of completed activity for final acceptance, secure the QC documentation which is required for final Handover

7.6 SAFETY MANAGER/SUPERVISOR

The Safety supervisor ensures that all safety management will be enforced in a ways to prevent injury to personnel, damage to Plants and/or equipment by Fires. He should provide written instruction to established work method, explain the sequence of operation, outline the potential hazards at each stage and indicate precaution to be adopted and the Safety supervisor shall visibly demonstrate the priority of safety in all activities, including setting a good personal example. He is responsible and accountable for the proper performance of field and the competency of the safety officers under his authority. He can stop the work that deem to be unsafe and can take immediate corrective action as needed.

7.7 WORK PERMIT RECEIVER

The work permit receiver shall be the authorized personnel for all the work permit related activities concern and he shall be the responsible channel for COMPANY.

If necessary trial can be conducted to read the scenario of the work and obtain permits. The issuer and receiver both are the key personnel for complete execution of the work. As well as the internal work permit coordinator of DAEWOO shall be the responsible senior person for guiding and granting work permit through company for all site activities. The other internal premises work permit shall be issued from DAEWOO.

8. Temporary Works

8.1 Barricades & Sign Boards

Barriers will be erected in coordination with safety department to provide protection against Hazards and danger, hazardous work areas in all cases where hazard or danger will exist for a Period longer than 8 hours. Barricade will be marked “RED” and “WHITE” to increase visibility of the barrier and highlight the hazard within the area.

9. Repair Work Procedure

9.1 Repair Procedures

  1. Remove the unsound concrete.
  2. Cleaning of all area need to be repaired from any unsuitable material or dust.
  3. Dust should be removed.
  4. Chipping of loose concrete portion if any to get hardened surface, grinding the surface if required.
  5. Cutting of steel wires or any steel pieces to get smooth and clean surface to be repaired.
  6. Check the adequate locations of Embedded Items likes; Steel Frames, Steel Sleeves,etc. before start repairing.
  7. Remove the all Plywood box-outs or Styrofoam where embedment items are required and clean the area well by brush.
  8. Installation and fixation of Embedded Items in their required locations.
  9. Apply a protective coating to the reinforcement steel.
  10. Wet the area before applying repair material.
  11. After the surface has to prepared, a bonding coat should be applied.
  12. Apply and Pour SIKAREP repair mortar as per manufacturer recommendations. (Refer to Approved MAR AL-MAR-065)
  13. The first layer of the patching material should be applied immediately after applying the bond coat.
  14. A protective coating should be applied on the required surface after it has been adequately cured and dried.
  15. Cure the repair for at least one day as per the recommendations of supplier.

10. QA/QC Inspection

Inspection & testing: The result of inspection shall satisfy COMPANY specifications (including related International standards/ codes) & submit RFI (Request for Inspection). All inspection shall be subjected to approve SATIP and SAIC those listed in the above in Section 3 (Reference).

11. HSE Requirements

11.1 Project HSE plan and COMPANY Fire & Safety Regulations shall be adhered to at all times.
11.2 Approved work permits should be secured prior to start of any repair works. Toolbox Meeting TSTI must be imposed daily before starting the work, to remind the worker regarding safety information related to work scope specially working at heights and lifting.
11.4 Rescue technique and procedure must be followed to the actual training of Safety Emergency procedure such as fall rescue and heat stress rescue conducted by Emergency Response Team (ERT). Transportation and shelter for rescue should be in place at the job site.
11.5 Welfare facilities should be provided at the project site, such as rest shelter, drinking water, toilets, smoking shelters, etc.
11.6 Work at height Fall Protection& Prevention plan should be imposed at the project site at all time to make sure the safety of the worker working at heights or elevated areas.
