BLAST RESISTANT DOORS INSTALLATION PROCEDURE | METHOD STATEMENT
1. SCOPE
This Method Statement highlights the work sequence intended for the installation of Blast Resistant Doors in Buildings. Execution of work shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant project specifications.
2. PURPOSE
To develop and established guidelines and reference for each activity as described in the contract and standard procedure. Ensure that installation, placing and fixing of the Blast Resistant Doors is carried out safely in accordance with good working practice as per project safety procedures & requirements.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Superintendent:
• Prior to commence the installation, placement and fixing of the Blast Resistant Doors, ensure full compliance to project safety requirements.
• Confirm the availability of work permits, materials, tools and qualified personnel who will carry out the work.
• Ensure implementation and full compliance of Company Engineering Standards, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, approved construction drawings and documented procedures.
Safety Supervisor:
• Check the work areas for any unsafe conditions.
• All personnel shall undergo safety training before start of the work. Record of personnel undergone safety training with details of training undergone shall be kept with HSE Department.
• Daily tool box talks are to be conducted every morning before commence of the work by the concerned supervisor and the minutes and details shall be documented.
• All personnel entering into the plant shall wear minimum approved PPE such as helmet, safety glass, gloves, and safety shoes irrespective of the location and nature of the work.
• Persons working with power tools or pneumatic equipment should wear hand gloves and eye protection. Only trained and certified personnel are allowed to operate and work with such tools.
• Dust masks shall be worn whenever the environment is dusty.
• Proper housekeeping shall be done in work areas.
• Sufficient amount of drinking water and sanitary facilities shall be made available.
• Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Engineering Department:
• Prepare and submit method statement, including IFC drawings and relevant documents and other procedure for Saudi Aramco review and approval.
• Provide technical support to site operation group.
• Provide technical support and resolve any difficulties encountered during the execution of the work.
• Ensure the required SA-approved documents for Blast Resistant Doors have been obtained as finally inspected by VID Representative before shipping as A per SAER-1972 with Level 1- Inspection Responsibility.
Quality Control Department:
• A quality control program shall be instituted that will verify or ensure that the work performed under the contract meets the requirements of this standard and the design drawing as per Inspection document Schedule Q.
• Conduct inspection in accordance with these procedures and approved Quality Control Inspection Test Plan.
• Monitor and visual inspection for every stage of the work during and after the construction phase until the completion of the activity.
• Independent testing agency or by the Contractor’s own laboratory approved by Saudi Aramco Inspection Department can perform testing on specific requirements of the work.
• All relevant material approval intended for this scope of work shall be submitted separately.
6. EXECUTION OF WORK
1. Blast resistant doors shall be designed for the dynamic loads furnished in Blast Design Requirements (BDR) Data Sheet as per SAES-M-009, Appendix
2. This method of installation describes the necessary steps to be taken and sequence of works that is vital to enable satisfactory completion of each activity.
A. Handling & Storage of Blast Resistant Doors:
• Blast resistant doors shall be lifted and transported using properly sized cranes and transporter.
• Door assemblies (Door & Mainframe) shall be stored in properly levelled wooden dunnage or steel supports.
B. Installation of Blast Resistant Door & Mainframe:
• Location (wall openings) of blast resistant doors shall be verified to ensure that door assembly will fit within the sub-frames installed.
• Installation shall be as per attached manufacturer’s “Installation, Operation & Maintenance Guidelines”.
• Crane to be used, including operator for lifting the blast resistant doors shall be certified by Saudi Aramco.
• All rigging hardware shall be inspected by the Rigging supervisor for any damages prior to hook-up.
• The hinge side of the door shall be perfectly plumbed and tolerance shall be in accordance with the Manufacturer’s recommendation.
• Any welding works for connection of sub-frames on existing embedded dowels or anchors shall be repaired/touched-up, inspected and accepted by Saudi Aramco before closure of forms for concrete placement.
• Welders shall be certified by Saudi Aramco.
• Welding works shall be as per approved welding procedure
• Repair of damaged galvanized coating and coating of welds shall be as per approved work procedures. Sipzinc-160 or approved equal shall be used for repair of galvanized coatings.
• Final coating shall be approved by Saudi Aramco.

7. QUALITY CONTROL
– All stages of the work shall be inspected in accordance with the applicable SATIP, SAIC’s and SATR’s.
– Visual inspection shall be done on every stage of the work.
8. SITE HEALTH & SAFETY
– It shall comply with the Saudi Aramco Construction Safety Manual.
– The work shall be executed in accordance with the approved safety plan.
– Work permit shall be obtained prior to commencement of any work where required.

– Work area shall be barricaded and signs posted to prevent entry of unauthorized personnel.
