To guide the responsible persons in conducting GIS Circuit Breaker Mechanism Test.
Testing a GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) circuit breaker is an essential part of ensuring its proper functioning and reliability. The following is a general procedure for testing the mechanism of a GIS circuit breaker. It’s important to note that specific procedures may vary depending on the manufacturer and model of the circuit breaker. Always refer to the manufacturer’s documentation for detailed and accurate information.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS – The following Safety precautions shall be taken in consideration prior, during and after conducting the test measurements.
- Safety tagging shall be implemented.
- Isolate the Area by Safety Warning Tape.
- Keep a Safe Distance from the device being tested.
- Wear Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) Prior to starting any testing activity.
- Implementation of Proper Grounding.
TEST EQUIPMENTS: Megger IR test Kit, Contact Resistance Test Kit, Circuit Breaker Analyzer.
GIS Circuit Breaker Mechanism Test Procedure
- Perform the Resistance test of the all types of Circuit Breaker’s Closing and tripping coil as per the following:
- Perform the pressure gauge test of the Circuit Breaker mechanism as per the following diagram:
2.1 For Pneumatic CB mechanism
2.2 For Hydraulic CB mechanism
- For Spring and Hydraulic Mechanism, Measure the motor Running & Starting current as per below test connection diagram:
4. Record all measured values in standard test forms.
