- In high vibration areas an expansion loop may be required in the I/A tubing next to the instrument or control valve.
- Blow out all tubing with dry nitrogen or dry oil free filtered air prior to final acceptance.
- Verify that all exhaust vents are pointed downward and vented to safe location for personnel protection. Vent openings shall also be screened to protect tubing from insects and weather.
- Identify, by instrument loop or system, the sequence of completion to match the commissioning schedule. Coordinate work with mechanical completion and assure all loops required for mechanical commissioning of plant systems are physically completed and tested on a priority basis.
- Teflon tape is not allowed on lube oil systems or hot process piping. Refer to specification for more information.
- Train contractor installers and audit for proper cleaning and handling techniques for all materials used in oxygen service. Include instrument and fitting storage, handling, installation and proper documentation on the cleaning log.
- Confirm that in-line instrumentation is correctly installed in accordance to the P&ID’s and instrument installation details.
- Testing in Progress and Pre-Commissioning:
- Contractor to provide to their personnel a “Go/No Go” inspection gauge and verify that each fitting is checked with the gauge upon completion of the 1¼ turn tightening procedure.
- Verify that correct tubing material, wall thickness, specified fittings and pipe thread sealant are used in the proper services.
- 10% of all tubing fittings, utilizing a Go/No Go Gauge, shall be checked by the Air Products representative and documented. Repeat inspections may be required. Note: In some services such as chemicals, 100% verification may be required.
- Leak Check all tubing fittings during pressure test and service test. Set up Quality Control Log to verify which circuits have been checked.
- Blow down each tube circuit, (including tube bundles) to verify continuity and that are no crimps or blockage in any line.
