Item Selection on the Instrumentation Bill of Material

1.1       This engineering standard defines the criteria for selection of items on the instrumentation bill of material.

  1. CRITERIA FOR ITEM BILL OF MATERIAL SELECTION

 

4.1       All bill of material items shall be per the Company Instrument Construction Bill of Material STD-8880A document. Any items selected for a project, but not listed, shall be included in the project-specific Bill of Material on an “as needed” basis and shall not be added to the Standard Bill of Material unless approved by a senior Instrument Designer of the Instrument and Electrical Design Group.

 

4.1.1   Items selected for use on instrumentation packages shall follow the Company primary

Design Philosophy of Safety, Quality, Reliability, and Operability.

 

4.1.2   Items and material requested by any customer must meet the Company Design Philosophy before being selected.

 

4.1.3   When adding items to the Instrument Construction Bill of Material, all items shall meet the industry specifications required for the service and application. All tubing, valve and fitting additions shall conform to the following Company tubing standards:  4PS52001A,

4PS52002A, 4PS52003A, 4PS52004A, 4PS52005A. All equipment and materials being used for analyzer calibration gas installations and analyzer vent installations shall refer to Company standards 4PS53000A and 4PS53001A for material requirements. All new items selected must be approved by a senior Instrument Designer of the Instrument and Electrical Design Group.

 

4.2      Swagelok and Parker A-Lok are the only tube fittings approved by Company.

Swagelok and Parker fittings shall not be interchanged. Tube fittings other than

Swagelok and Parker are not permitted unless permission is granted by Company.

 

4.3       All projects require a bill of material. When the project scope states that Company will be supplying all materials, the items quantities shall be specified in the quantity column on the bill of material. If the material is not being supplied by Company, the bill of material will be released to the contractor without a quantity column.
