This article is about how to do touch up mettalic paint and procedure to do it.
TOUCH UP METTALIC PAINT PROCEDURE FOR EQUIPMENT & PIPING
The below listed metallic paint painting procedure shall be followed for touchup of equipments & Pipings and inspected by paint tester.
• Crew Supervisor and Coating Applicator hold valid coating certification card
issued by International standard or Saudi Aramco in accordance with the requirements.
• Touchup Painting for metallic paint of Equipments & pipings shall be applied same coating or equivalent coating system according to Aramco specification or international system.
• Metallic paint shall not be applied if one or more of the following conditions exist
(unless metallic paint is specifically formulated for averted condition):
a) Substrate temperature is less than 10°C of the temperature limit given in
the applicable Saudi Aramco Data Sheet
b) Substrate temperature is more than the temperature limit given in the
applicable Saudi Aramco Data Sheet.
c) Substrate temperature is less than 3 ° C above the dew point.
• Metallic paint shall not be applied during adverse weather conditions such as, but not
restricted to following:
a) Wind is strong enough to blow sand, salt spray or other foreign matter onto the surface being painted.
b) Wind is strong enough to cause dry spay or otherwise seriously disturb the
spray pattern when application is by spray gun.
c) Rain
QUALITY CONTROL FOR TOUCH UP METTALIC PAINT
(i) Application of insulation inspection shall be based in accordance with SATIP.
(ii) All equipment shall have Work Transfer Sheet and turned-over by respective department prior to insulation.
(iii) During acceptance testing by the Contractor or Owner a check shall be run by the insulation subcontractor to ensure that all inspections have been carried out and the results are satisfactory.
(viii) Inspection and test records of Repair Metallic paint touchup shall be as per Quality Control
Report.
(ix) All Inspection requirements to be comply as per SATIP.
