  1. Verify that a double door access to the equipment room is provided. The access route shall be adequate for future equipment changes.
  2. Assure that the access route to the telecommunication equipment room will allow for the delivery and installation of equipment.
  3. Verify that the TER door is equipped with a combination key lock to restrict personnel access to the telecommunication equipment room.
  4. Noise levels in telecommunication equipment rooms shall comply with SAES-A-105.
  5. Verify the use of the following for reducing dust and static electricity:
    • Installation of tile instead of carpet
    • Coating or treat floors and walls with paint or coatings that minimize static electricity and dust.”
  6. Verify that the final design is reviewed and approved by the communications proponent organization.
  7. Ensure that an ionization fire detector or equivalent is provided in telecommunication equipment rooms and the detector shall have a remote light extended from it’s circuit to a location outside the main entrance door.
  8. Verify that Portable fire extinguishers or fire extinguishing systems is provided in accordance with SAES-B-019
  9. Verify that the placement of fire protection systems is coordinated with the equipment layout to avoid obstructing access to the alarm or other protective measures.
  10. Verify that all materials that are used to seal penetrations in fire rated walls and floors are listed for the specific application and comply to UL 1479 requirements.
  11. Verify that emergency lighting in the room is provided.
  12. Verify that a minimum of 91 cm (3 ft) of clear work space in front of equipment and termination fields when wall mounted is maintained at the telecommunication equipment rooms .
  13. Verify that a clear work space of 91 cm (36 in.) shall be provided for terminals and equipment mounted on floor racks and floor support structures.
  14. Verify that a minimum access of 76 cm (30 in) is provided to the rear of equipment installed at the TC for maintenance purposes.
  15. Verify that the TER is identify in accordance to EIA TIA-606 (Administration Standard For The Telecommunication Infrastructure Of Commercial Buildings).
  16. The floor space shall allow the telecommunication equipment room to provide sufficient space for the initial installation, future growth (minimum 20%) and changes.
