Welding Filler Metals

1. Scope

This article provides requirements for purchasing welding filler metals.

3. Requirements

3.1 When available, welding filler metals should conform to AWS A5.1 to A5.31 as listed in Appendix A. The appendixes of these specifications provide classification and technical description of these metals. Alternatively  ASME Section II, Part C can be used. 

3.2 All filler metals shall be labeled to include the product specification, heat or lot number, manufacturer’s name and address.
3.3 Decisions regarding selection and application of filler metals shall be taken by materials consultant.
3.4 See AWS A5.01 for ordering filler metal.
