1.0 PURPOSE
This method statement shall provide minimum Guidelines for to carry out the Support modification (Short stool) activities, at plants and refinery projects in accordance with Project Drawings and Project Specifications..
2.0 SCOPE
This procedure applies to Modification of Support(Short stool) for plants and refinery projects.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1 Construction Manager shall be responsible for the overall implementation of this procedure and shall appoint personnel to undertake periodic audits to ensure this procedure is being complied with.
4.2 Health Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager shall be responsible for ensuring that any Safety issues arising from the implementation of this procedure and regular inspections are followed up and recorded by all Field Supervisors and notified to Project management accordingly.
4.3 Materials Controller shall be responsible for ensuring that all materials are stored and transferred to the custody of the Construction Contractors in a clean and dry condition, suitably protected to ensure ingress of debris and moisture is prevented.
4.4 Field Superintendent shall be responsible for ensuring that all Field Supervisors and Contractor personnel are aware of the requirements of this procedure and for monitoring its implementation at site.
4.5 Field Supervisors shall be responsible for the detailed day-to-day operation of the procedure. They shall complete regular inspections in line with the agreed quality plans and random inspections of Construction Contractors operations to ensure the requirements are being successfully implemented.
4.6 QA/QC Manager has the responsibility to:
4.6.1 Review of all request including Daily Welding Inspection Report.
4.6.2 Managing welder qualification.
4.6.3 Managing control system.
4.6.4 Managing of quality control
4.6.5 Managing inspection and test with regard to support installation
5.0 MANPOWER
5.1 The Piping Superintendent shall control the overall activity he shall be directly reporting to the Construction Manager. The basic manpower under him shall consist but not limited to the following:
5.1.1 Piping Foreman
5.1.2 Welding Foreman
5.1.3 Pipe Fitters
5.1.4 Welder
5.1.5 Helper
5.2 QC Inspector
5.3 Safety Officer
6.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
6.1 Tools and equipment needed should be in good condition and must be checked by Supervisor I Safety Officer prior to use in the construction area. These includes but not limited to:
6.1.1 Paint brush I roller
6.1.2 Welding machine
6.1.3 Straight edge
6.1.4 Magnetic/spirit level
6.1.5 Grinder
6.1.6 Steel brush
6.1.7 Welding outfit
7.0 METHODS/ REPAIR PROCEDURES
7.1 Prepare materials needed for the job.
7.2 All materials or tools must be in good condition.
7.3 Modification of support (short stool)
7.3.1 Check alignment and levelness of pipes attached to the support prior to install additional support.
7.3.2 After alignment and levelness is accepted, removed foreign matter from the end of support and at least 25mm (I in) of adjacent base metal prior to fit-up weld. Bevel end of support and weld on proper location. Additional support must be same with existing support. Refer to illustration below for details
7.3.3 After acceptance of fit-up proceed to full welding as per approved WPS.
7.4 Touch-up paint
7.4.1 Surface preparation and coating shall be in accordance with the SAES-H series standards, related 09-SAMSS series specification and this project specification.
The work shall result in properly coated surfaces free from pinholes, voids, skips, runs, sags, thin spots, dirt and abrasive inclusions, and other evidence of poor workmanship.
7.4.2 Prior to any mechanical/hand tool cleaning; oil, grease, paint and other surface contaminants shall be removed from steel.
7.4.3 All touch-up and repair of coated surfaces at construction site shall follow Table A of specification of S-000-13A0-001 (Supplementary Specification for External Coating)
8.0 QUALITY CONTROL
8.1Quality Control personnel will be assigned to ensure the quality control and assurance requirement of the project.
8.2 Quality Control lnspector shall coordinate with the other inspectors to conduct inspection as required in SATIP.
8.3 QC Inspector shall be responsible to conduct all required inspections/ documentations and to ensure that all applicable requirements, codes, and standards are complied with.
8.4 QC to utilize the applicable SAIC for every activity.
8.5 Calibration shall be done as required for all machines and tools going to be used in the work in accordance with Schedule Q.
9.0 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS.
9.1 Approved work pennit shall be obtained prior to the start any painting works.
9.2 Work execution shall be carried out in accordance with this method of statement.
9.3 Painting crew must carry out a safety risk assessment prior to the start of any new activities.
9.4 The necessary manpower inclusive of supervisory staff, tools, equipment, materials, and other resources required must be made available and ready to use.
9.5 Workers shall be provided with and wear their PPE’s needed for work.
9.6 Man lift equipment, if required shall be tested and certified by Saudi ARAMCO Equipment Inspection Division.
9.7 Only Saudi Aramco certified man lift operator(s) shall be allowed to operate the man lift equipment.
9.8 Sufficient lightings shall be provided if work is done at night time. Work at night shall be approved by client
