GRATING INSTALLATION PROCEDURE AND METHOD STATEMENT

1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this method of statement is to provide a clear guidelines and specification for structural installation procedures for commercial buildings, .

2.0 SCOPE

The scope of works covers under this procedure applies to the installation of gratings required to complete installation of pipe-racks stairs and platforms cover under JAZAN REFINERY PROJECT Package No. 12.

3.0 REFERENCES

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Construction Manager shall be responsible to implement all HSE requirements in providing construction equipments, tools and manpower to carry out the work as per project drawing specification and schedule. Ensure that construction fabrication and installation activities are being carried out in conformance to drawing requirements and project specification.
2. Construction Supervisor shall be responsible in monitoring actual site works activities from fabrication to installation to ensure that each piece of fabricated steel structure is as per drawing specification. Ensure that equipments and manpower are enough necessary to complete the project schedule.
3. Quality Control Manager shall be responsible in the implementation of project quality management system and ensure that all project specifications and standards are monitored ,complied and documented.
4. Quality Control Inspector shall be responsible in monitoring compliance of all structural steel materials from fabrication to installation with complete inspection documentation records and with clients approval.
5. Construction Foreman shall be responsible in ensuring that work execution is as per approved drawing and standard and shall ensure that all manpower / workers are qualified to carry out the work effectively.
6. Safety Supervisor shall be responsible in monitoring and overseeing safety implementation activities from fabrication area to site installation area and ensure that all safety parameters are being complied by all working personnel.

5.0 PROCEDURE

General:

Fabrication & Installation of Grating shall conform with Saudi Aramco Standard to 12SAMSS-007 and 12-SAMSS-008 and Process Industry Practices to Structural works as per STS05120 and STS05130 and STF05530. Required painting process shall conform to SAES-H-001, SAES-H-100 and SAES-S-101.

Materials handling prior to any fabrication and installation shall comply with SATIPM-001-01 requirements. Any noncompliance shall be subjected to inquiry and shall be referred to SAUDI ARAMCO for approval.

5.1 Grating Fabrication Procedure

1. Make Sure material receiving inspection record is available before start any fabrication activity. Classification or Type of material should be as per approved drawing requirements and material technical specification.
2. Thickness and size requirements of grating materials shall be monitored prior to any fabrication to avoid any mismatch during installation. In case of grating materials supply, ensure that grating is as per approved standard drawing of Saudi Aramco – PIP STF05530.
3. Welding activities shall be as per AWS D1.1 WPS approved by client prior to any welding activity commencement. Only Certified Welders are allowed to weld.
4. Grating fabrication details shall conform to Saudi Aramco referred PIP STF05530.
5. Grating Fastening method shall be as specified in the drawing standard and as per PIP STS05120 paragraph 6.3.10 of item 6.3 – Fabrication.
6. Grating and Checkered plate fabrication details shall conform with approved drawing and standards and it shall conform with PIP STS05120 paragraph 6.3.11, 6.3.12 and 6.3.13 of item 6.3 – Fabrication.
7. Painting or galvanizing requirements for fabricated gratings shall be in conformance with SAES-H-100 – Coating Material and Application Requirements for industrial facilities and SAES-H-101 – Approved Protective Coating.
8. Prior to construction hand over for installation/erection, all fabricated materials shall be inspected and accepted by Quality Control Department and approved by Saudi Aramco PID.

5.2 Grating Installation Procedure

1. Grating Installation and its auxiliaries shall be in accordance with Saudi Aramco approved drawing.
2. Materials lifting activity shall be carried out by an approved Saudi Aramco Rigger from Fabrication to Site to avoid damage to materials and property.
3. Evidence of materials quality inspection documentation such as receiving inspection and fabrication approval drawing shall be available prior to installation and erection for easy site references during installation and erection.
4. Grating Fabrication details shall be as per PIP STF-05530 or Engineering approved drawing. As for actual checking and inspection the following specification as to details shall be observed:
   1. Detail 1 – Grating Opening at Interior Column.
   2. Detail 2 – Grating Opening at Base Plate.
   3. Detail 3 – Grating Opening at Corner Column.
   4. Detail 4 – Circular Openings.
   5. Detail 5 – Toe Plate Banding at openings for pipe support.
   6. Detail 6 – Toe Plate Banding at openings for equipment.
   7. Detail 7 – Typical Grating Panel Lay-out.
   8. Detail 8 – Typical Grating Panel Fastener Arrangement.
   9. Detail 9 – Typical Clearances at Perimeter of Floors.
5. Grating installer shall ensure that all grating material supply prior to installation shall meet grating fabrication details and approved drawing.
6. Installation shall be as per approved Aramco Standard drawing. (PIP STF 05530)
7. Installation of permanent gratings that requires welding shall meet AWS D1.1 requirements. Welders shall be certified as per approved AWS D1.1 WPS.
8. All Grating and Floor Plate installation that requires cutting at field shall be as required on the design and approved drawing.
9. The erector shall fasten the grating and floor plate as specified on the design drawings detail # 8 of STF 05530. A minimum of two (2) fasteners assemblies required at each support and one (1) fastener assembly is required at each corner of panel.
10. Verification of installation shall be checked by QC prior to final inspection in line with PIP STF 05530 approved standard.

6.0 Grating Installation Quality Control

1. Quality Inspector shall ensure that all fabricated and installed gratings shall be in compliance with approved design drawing, standard and specification.
2. All inspection activities shall meet Saudi Aramco Inspection requirement as per SATIP.
3. QC Inspector shall coordinate with construction installer, erector any noncompliance observed during inspection and shall ensure that corrective action is taken with approval of Engineering.

7.0 Grating Installation Safety Precaution

1. Safety requirements at site during field installation shall be strictly monitored and an implementation of complete PPE shall be strictly observed.
2. Safety Barricades from the job site where installation and erection is on progress shall be installed.
3. Ensure that work permits shall be available prior to any site installation, erection commencement and that safety tool box meeting is conducted.
4. Safety Officer shall have a close and strict monitoring implementation of safety at site before and after work is carried out and a house keeping shall be observe before and after work activities to avoid any accident or incident cause of negligence.
