PROCEDURES FOR ELECTRICAL SUPPORT INSTALLATION

CABLE TRAY SUPPORT INSTALLATION

  • Supports for cable tray shall provide strength and work load capabilities sufficient to meet the load requirements of the cable tray wiring system and future cable wiring system and future cable addition.
  • All permanent materials (including fabricated supports), consumables, construction area and resources shall be prepared and checked prior to installation works of cable tray and shall be approved by client representative.
  • Support of cable tray shall be assembled with proper support fittings, mounted plumb band level and rigidly secure to the structure all racks and trays shall be fastened to support members.
  • Support should be located in such a manner and the tray installed so as to avoid supporting the tray at the end of each section. Connection and splices between horizontal sections of tray should fall at the quarter point of the span.
  • Support of cable tray shall be located within 2ft (600mm max.) of each side of expansion splice plates. (NEMA VE2).
  • Hold-down clips and support fitting shall be provided at each support point. Expansion guides should be used at each support point except where the tray is hung with rods.
  • Support cable tray for vertical tray should provide secure means, other than friction, for fastening the tray to the support.
  • Self standing support for cable tray shall be made of steel channel vertically nstalled and supported with concrete foundation, anchor bolt grouting, etc.
  • Welding of support shall be as per approved WPS.
  • Touch-up paint the tray support according to painting specification and procedure.

Electrical Equipment Support Installation (JB, LCS, Switch Box, etc.)

All electrical Equipment support shall be installed as per the approved drawings and standard of company.

Welding of support shall be as per approved WPS.

Support attached to structures which will be fire proofed shall consider the thickness of the fire proofing material.

Touch up painting for every steel surface, edging caused by cutting, drilling, welding and grinding.

Touch-up paint of the support according to painting specification and procedure.
