Erection of Module Structure

Preparatory works

Lifting study shall be conducted prior to set any structures. For required cases use only approved lifting plan.

  • Prepare lifting location where the crane will be located and positioned.
  • Prepare and set all rigging accessories according to arrangement.
  • Checked wind condition, lift shall not proceed when wind velocity is greater than required of crane.
  • Stabilized ground areas where crane will be located and positioned. Crane mats shall be provided in accordance to findings of soil bearing pressure.
  • Use only approved lifting plan.
  • Crane lift & rigging requirement shall refer to International Safety Laws.
  • Approved operators and equipments to be used for work.

Industry Codes and Standards:

AWS 01 .1: Structural Welding Codes

Erection of module structure

Prior to start of any activity; secure a work permit from concerned Contractor authorized personnel.

  • Assemble modular type of structure base on capacity of crane.
  • Place all materials on designated area near the location for assembly and erection.
  • Surface of steel structural member shall be clean by air blowing (air compressor or electric compressor), manual cleaning by using brooms or a piece of clothes and other methods for cleaning of structural member on ground prior for lifting work.
  • Pre-assemble single frame of steel structure at ground.

Erection of module structure

After pre-assembly check if the bolt is already at snug tight condition by using a test hammer. Mark the bolt as applicable.

Lifting of painted structural shall be done with non abrasive choker. The crane responsible for loading or unloading structural members shall be assigned separately prior to erection works.

Erection of module structure

  • After assembling modular structure, install scaffold on required location such as connections (girder-beam , column-column , beam-beam, bracings & etc. Scaffold will be use as access & working platform for bolt tightening and inspection purpose.
  • Make sure that all bolts are in snug-tight condition prior to erect.
  • Erect modular structure on the designated location.
  • After completion of steel erection, plumbness checking and alignment of erected structure shall commence. QC inspection shall follow to verify alignment and plumbness, records as per TIP Typical Inspection Plan.
  • After approval of client proceed to final bolt tightening.

Bolt Tightening:

  • All bolts shall be aligned to permit insertion of bolts without undue damage to the threads.
  • Bolts shall be placed in all holes with washers positioned and nuts threaded to complete the assembly.
  • Any abnormal wear on the equipment and parts during installation and assembly shall be corrected by the subcontractor. Prior to the commencement action written work procedure shall be approve by contractor/company.

Damages and Nonconformity

Any damages and defects and nonconformity found at site and lay down yard shall be reported immediately.
