General Tubing and Accessories – Handling, Storage and Preservation Checklist

Documentation for traceability reviewed and implemented for tubing, accessories, Manifold valves( two or three valve) pipe Fittings, Nipples, Electric / Steam traced bundles etc.
“Documented Control System shall be implemented for all Saudi Aramco supplied material and equipment.

Individuals responsible for special handling, storage and preservation shall be fully qualified to do so, and supplied with predetermined WORK and inspection instructions.
The CONTRACTOR shall provide documentation that the required Storage, Handling and Preservation (SHP) activities have been performed.
Incoming material shall be visually inspected for damage / defects occurred during transportation.

Storage and Preservation Checklist

Ensure that Equipment Storage and Protection is as per Manufacturer’s Recommendation
For outdoors storage, Check and ensure that tube reels are supported off the ground and provided with a weatherproof (i.e., rain and dust-tight) cover per the manufacturer recommendations.
Tube reels shall be stored away from open flame, fire, arc welding, brazing, grinding and other sources of high heat or ignition.
Check and ensure that received tubes with jacket material not rated for exposure to sunlight shall be stored under a sunshade or indoors.

Handling Checklist

  1. General Handling – All material shall be checked for damage by store yard personnel prior to acceptance of shipment, unloading, or handling. No visible shipping or handling damage. [Typical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of Manufacturer O’Brien Tracepak Instructions]
  2. Special Handling – Shipper and receiving store yard personnel shall be fully aware of manufacturer’s special handling instructions (if provided on the material boxes or in the purchase documents) prior to unloading or handling.[ Typical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of Manufacturer O’Brien Tracepak Instructions]

  5. Tube cutters or hacksaws should be sharp. Do not take deep cuts with each turn of the cutter or stroke of the saw. [ Typical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of Manufacturer O’Brien Tracepak Instructions]
  6. Tube ends should be Deburred. This helps to ensure that the tubing will go all the way through the ferrules without damaging the ferrule sealing edge. [Typical Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of Manufacturer O’Brien Tracepak Instructions]

All above points are as per NEC 110.3 (B).
