1. SCOPE

Gypsum board dry wall partition installation for buildings for external concrete wall partition. Accordance with the requirements of CONTRACTOR / COMPANY drawings, specifications & standards.

2. PURPOSE

The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe in detail the appropriate requirement for Gypsum board dry wall partition installation for buildings for external wall partition.

3. OBJECTIVE

To ensure execution of Gypsum board dry wall partition installation for buildings for internal and external wall partition are meeting with all quality and safety requirements under the above referenced project.

4. DEFINITIONS

Method Statement : A written document that gives specific instructions on how to perform a work related task safely or safe operation plan using tools and equipment.

5. REFERENCES

The latest revision of COMPANY’s Project Specifications shall be used as references and shall be the part of this Method of Statement during work execution.

6.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Site Manager

The Site Manager ensures that the site QC Section are provided with the Necessary facilities and cooperation from all Supervisors, Foremen and Labors to enable satisfactory inspection and verification of activities performed by the site civil section and responsible of implementation of HSE on the site.

b) Safety Manager

The Safety Manager ensures that all safety management will enforced in a way to prevent injury to personnel, damage to Plants and/or equipment’s by Fires. He should provide written instruction to established work method, explain the sequence of operation, outline the potential hazards at each stage and indicate precaution to be adopted.

c) Site Engineer

The Civil Site engineer, Supervisor and/or Foreman are solely responsible in the construction assuring all materials installed permanently and works being implemented are in conformance with specifications and approved drawings.

d) QC Inspector

The QC Civil Inspector shall ensure that approved quality control procedure is being implemented throughout the course of the construction. Inspection shall be done on materials or work, which will be incorporated to the permanent structure. He shall coordinate with contractor’s representative regarding inspection and test made shall also be his responsibility.

7.0 MATERIALS

7.1 Gypsum Accessories:

– Studs: ASTM C 645; Sizes 70mm, metal stud at 400mm c/c. Materials shall be supplied by Company Approved vendors.
– Fasteners/Runners: ASTM C 754 Provide fasteners of type, material, size, corrosion resistance, holding power and other properties required to fasten steel framing member securely to each other and to substrate involved complying with the recommendation of gypsum drywall manufacturer for application indicated.

7.2 Gypsum Board:

Gypsum board of types indicated below with thickness of 16mm, width of 1.2m and fire rated in maximum lengths useable to minimize end joints. All types of Gypsum Boards shall be supplied by Company approved vendor.

7.3 Rock Wool Insulation:

Rock wool insulation material with thick. = 50mm and density = 50 kg/m3 facing type with aluminium for Wall max. Heat transmission coefficient (U-factor) = 0.568 W/(m² °K) or (0.10 btu/h ft² °F).

7.4 Gypsum Board Joint Treatment Materials:

a) Joint Tape: Shall be paper reinforcing tape, regular or metal packed of the same manufacturer as the gypsum board or approved by the manufacturer of the gypsum board.
b) Joint Compound: Shall be setting type or drying type, bedding and setting or all purposed compound as recommended by gypsum board manufacturer, used Water in portable.

c) Miscellaneous/Screw: Provide gypsum board screw of type, materials, size, corrosion resistance, holding power and other properties required for each particular application complying with the recommendation of gypsum drywall manufacturer.

8.0 PROCEDURES

8.1 Examination

Verify that site conditions are ready to receive work and opening dimensions are as indicated in the IFC Drawings.

8.2 Metal Stud& Runners Installation

– Install stud& Runners in accordance with ASTM C 754.

– Metal stud spacing shall be 400mm@ c/c as indicated in the IFC drawings.
– Metal Runner spacing shall be 1200mm@ c/c as per ASTM C 754, Table 2.
– Refer to IFC Drawings for indication of partitions extending to beam of concrete slab and for partitions extending through the ceiling to the structure above. Maintain clearance under structural building members to avoid deflection transfer to studs.
– Door Opening Framing: Install double studs at door frame jambs.

8.3 Gypsum Board Installation

– Installation of metal runners at bottom, both sides and top of each wall to the bottom level of the slab/beam.
– Spacing and installation of metal runners as specified horizontally spacing@1200mm.
– Installation and spacing of metal studs as specified spacing@600mm vertically to the bottom level of the slab/beam.
– Installations of metal studs and runners around openings and doors as recommended by manufacturer.
– Installation of rock wool insulation between vertical studs to the bottom level of the slab/beam.
– Erection of gypsum board panels placed in most economical direction to framing of furring members.
– Erect single layer fire-rated gypsum board in accordance with U.L. fire resistance directory requirements for design listed.
– Use screw when fastening gypsum board to metal or framing.
– Double Fire-Rated Application: Installation shall be in accordance with U.L. fire resistance directory requirements for design listed
– Treat cut edges and holes in fire rated resistant gypsum board and exterior soffit board with sealant.
– Place control joints consistent with lines of building spaces (as directed).
– Apply gypsum board to curved walls in accordance with specification.
– All gypsum walls shall be extended up to above suspended ceiling or as indicated in the drawing, except for fire-rated walls which shall be full height to underside of roof deck
– All gypsum walls in wet area shall be moisture resistant.
– Inside corner tape shall be provided for all gypsum board wall corners.

a) Joint Treatment

– Tape, fill and sand exposed joints, edges and corners to produce smooth surface ready to receive finishes.
– Feather coats onto adjoining surfaces so that camber is maximum 0.8mm.
– Taping, filling and sanding are not required at surfaces behind adhesive applied ceramic tiles.
– Tape joints and corners of cementations backing board.

b) Texture Finish& Enamel Paint

– Apply finish texture coating in accordance with approved schedule finishing paints, and as Directed by Client’s Representative.

c) Tolerance

– Maximum variation of finished gypsum board surface from true flatness is 3mm in 3.0m in any direction.

9.0 QUALITY CONTROL AND INSPECTION PLAN

Inspection & testing: The result of inspection shall satisfy COMPANY specifications (including related International standards/ codes) & submit RFI (Request for Inspection). Inspection format shall refer to approved COMPANY’s ITP and approved related formats.

10.0 CONFLICTS AND DEVIATIONS

Any conflicts between this specification and other applicable Saudi Aramco Materials System Specification (SAMSSs), Engineering Standards (SAESs), Standards Drawings (SASDs) or industry standards, codes, and forms shall be resolved in writing by the company through the Manager, Consulting Services Department.
