Installation

  1. “Verify that connecting hardware used for horizontal cable connections meet the requirements for reliability, safety, and transmission performance specified in:
    • EIA TIA-568A
    • EIA TIA-70”
  2. Verify that horizontal cables are not directly connected to premises equipment, instead, suitable connecting hardware and cable to make the connection are used.
  3. Verify that patch panels and cross-connect blocks are located so that the combined length of cables and line cords used to connect equipment in the work area and TC, plus the patch cable, do not exceed 10 m (33 ft).
  4. Ensure the administration of telecommunications connecting hardware according to EIA/TIA-606
  5. Verify that connecting hardware used for horizontal cable runs shall be rated for the same category or higher when using UTP cable from a given category (as specified in EIA /TIA-568A) as per standard BICSI TDMM, Manual, Chapter 4.
  6. Verify that telecommunications outlet/connectors is located so that the cord required to reach work area equipment will be no more than 5 m (16 ft) long as per standard BICSI TDMM, Manual, Chapter 5.
  7. Verify that each 4-pair 100 ohm balanced twisted-pair cable is terminated in an eight-position modular jack at the work area as per standard BICSI TDMM, Manual, Chapter 5.
  8. Verify that Jumpers, patch cords, equipment cords, and work area cords used are rated at the same or higher performance category as the balanced twisted-pair cabling to which it connects as per standard BICSI TDMM, Manual, Chapter 5.
  9. Verify that length of cables and line cords used to connect equipment in the work area and TR plus the patch cable, does not exceed a length of 10 m (33 ft).
