Protected Membrane Roofing Performance Requirements

Roofing membrane and base flashings shall remain watertight, shall not permit the passage of  water, and shall resist specified uplift pressures, thermally induced movement, and exposure to weather, without failure. Roofing materials shall be compatible with one another under conditions of service and application required, as demonstrated by roofing manufacturer based on testing and field experience.

Protected Membrane Roofing Documents

The following shall be submitted for company review and approval:

a. Product data for each type of product indicated
b. Shop drawings for roofing system, which shall include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work, for the following:
(i) Base flashings, cants, and membrane terminations
(ii) Tapered insulation, including slopes
(iii) Crickets, saddles, and tapered edge strips, including slopes
(iv) Insulation fastening patterns.
c. Samples for verification, for the following products:

(i) 300 x 300 mm² of modified bituminous, granule-surface cap sheets
(ii) 300 x 300 mm² of roofing insulation
(iii) 1.5 kg of aggregate surfacing material
(iv) Full-size concrete roof-paver ballast
(v) 300 x 300 mm² of filter fabric

d. Installer certificates, signed by roofing system manufacturer certifying that installer is approved, authorized, or licensed by manufacturer to install roofing system.
e. Manufacturer certificates, signed by roofing manufacturer, certifying that roofing system complies with requirements specified above.
f. Maintenance data for roofing system, for inclusion in maintenance manuals.
g. Warranties specified in Protected Membrane Roofing Quality Assurance Guidelines.
h. Copy of roofing system manufacturer’s inspection report of completed roofing installation.
