Site Manager Work Scope

The function of the Site Manager is to plan and coordinate the activities of all members of the Project team.

Site Manager Duties and Responsibilities

There are following duties and responsibilities of site manager at commercial building, plants and refineries projects.

  1. Ensure project procedures are adequate and effective, and be continually alert to means and methods by which the operations of the project team can be improved.
  2. Report to the Regional office, on the status of the project.
  3. Ensure satisfactory and timely administration of the project.
  4. Be aware, at all times, with the contractual technical and financial aspects of the project.
  5. Liaise with the project team in the determination of the project work packages, and work on revenue breakdown structures, and the cost and price apportionment thereof.
  6. Participate, co-ordinate and organize when directed with senior management the development, implementation and improvement of the overall company strategic business plan.
  7. Attend regular scheduled meeting with Main Contractor and liaise with Main Contractor in the resolution of contractual matters.
  8. Participate in negotiating terms and conditions with prospective subcontractors along with Procurement Manager.
  9. Ensure safe working environment for all personnel in the project.
  10. Liaise with the Quality Manager in the development, maintenance and implementation of the Company Quality System.
  11. Approve capital expenditure within project budget limits.
  12. Monitor project performance and initiates remedial actions as required, within the guidelines of the appropriate procedures of the Company’s Management Systems.
  13. Project staff recruitment and or relocation and appraisals.
  14. Participate in the award of work packages of the project if and when required and in coordination with the planning and estimation departments.
  15. Approve all project contract variations.
  16. Approve all project monthly progress payments and/or extension of time when appropriate.
