SUSPENDED CEILING INSTALLATION METHOD STATEMENT & PROCEDURE

To provide a documented procedure for the activities related to the installation of acoustical tiles suspended ceiling system.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 The work includes but not limited to installation of acoustical tile suspended ceiling system with HILTI loop hanger system and all accessories for buildings.

4. RESPONSIBILITES

4.1 Site Manager

The Site Manager ensures compliance by all foremen, labors and other craftsmen to
the requirements of this procedure. He shall observe and implement ITP and proper
execution of the work.

4.2 Site Supervisor

The Site Supervisor and/or foremen are solely responsible in the procedure assuring
all materials installed permanently and works being implemented are in conformance
with specifications and manufacture’s recommendation.

4.3 QC Manager

He will ensure all the material & method statement is approved prior to start of work. He will explain QC requirement for installation of suspended ceiling to PM, site representative & QC supervisor/inspector by coordination with them. He will ensure that suspended ceiling installers are trained and skilled & if required he will arrange training for them. He will ensure that all work is inspected and accepted as per Aramco requirement & SATIP. He will identify any potential nonconformance & suggest preventive action to eliminate occurrence of nonconformance.

4.4 QA/QC Inspector

The QC Inspector is responsible to conduct daily surveillance and inspections as necessary in accordance with this procedure and project quality requirement. Prepare quality control records and documentation to secure completion of activity for final acceptance and handover.

4.5 Safety Supervisor

The Safety Supervisor shall ensure that all workers are in compliance with the requirements of the safety manual. He is responsible for monitoring the work area for any unsafe conditions and make corrective actions where necessary.

5.0 MATERIAL

5.1 Approval for acoustic tile false ceiling system shall be taken prior to start work.
Acoustic tile false ceiling system consist of main & cross tee, wall angle, wire, furring, channel framing, rod & acoustical panel tile.
5.2 Materials shall be stored in original protective packaging to prevent soiling, physical damage or wetting.
5.3 Cartons containing acoustical panels shall be stored at each end to stabilize moisture content and temperature during storage.

6.0 PROCEDURE

6.1 Pre-Installation

6.1.1 Areas that are scheduled to receive suspended acoustical units shall be examined to verify readiness to accept installation.
6.1.2 Other trades shall be consulted before start of ceiling work to determine areas of potential interferences. Installation shall not start until interferences have been resolved. Release note from other interface discipline should be arranged.

6.1.3 The installation of Hanger, Runner, Wall molding and accessories including distances and sizes shall be in accordance with Saudi Aramco Standards and manufactures recommendations.

6.2 Installation of Wall angle

6.2.1 False ceiling level shall be marked on one wall and the same level shall be transferred to other 3 walls using a water level or a laser and snap a connecting chalk line to mark the finish level of the ceiling.
6.2.2 The wall angle as per approved IFC shall be attached securely using expanding anchors and the joints between inside and outside of moldings shall be kept tight.

6.3 Installation of Hangers & Fasteners

6.3.1. Approved HIL Tl Loop Hanger system shall be used & Manufacturer technical instructions shall be followed.
6.3.2. Approved Hangers shall be installed above the main runners typically every 1200mm interval in each direction or as specified by the manufacturer & IFC drawings.
6.3.3. Each suspension hanger shall not hang more than 1 in 6 out of plumb unless a counter sloping wire or horizontal bracing is provided.
6.3.4. The height of the rod shall be adjusted with the help of guide string, so that the main runner is held at the correct height.

6.4 Installation of main TEE & cross TEE

6.4.1 Furring & channel frames shall be installed as per manufacturer’s recommendation and approved IFC.
6.4.2 Install main TEE so that they are all level to within 6.4 mm in 3.05 m. at required CIC distance.
6.4.3 Perform leveling of main TEE with supporting hanger taut to prevent any subsequent downward movement of the main runners.

6.4.4 Install cross TEE supported by main runners at required center distance of 610mm Cl

6.5 Lighting & other fixtures

6.5.1 Lighting & other fixtures shall be supported by grid itself as per manufacturer’s recommendation if no other details are provided.
6.5.2 Extra hangers shall be provided to support lighting and fixtures depending on size & weight.

6.6 Acoustical Panel

6.6.1 Acoustical panel including matching wall trim shall be installed in accordance with requirements and approved MAR.

6. 7 Post-Installation

6. 7 .1 Soiled or discolored unit surfaces shall be cleaned after installation.
6.7.2 Scratches, abrasions, voids, and other defects in painted surfaces shall be touched-up.
6.7.3 Damaged or improperly installed units shall be removed and replaced.

7.0 QUALITY CONTROL AND INSPECTION PLAN

7.1 All materials, workmanship and inspection shall conform to all Saudi Aramco Typical Inspection Plan, Saudi Aramco Inspection Checklist, Construction Specification, Standard Drawings and IFC Drawings.

8.0 SITE HEAL TH & SAFETY

8.1 The work shall be executed in accordance with the approved safety plan. Work permit shall be obtained prior to any commencement of the work as required.

9.0 CONFLICTS AND DEVIATIONS

Any conflicts between this specification and other applicable Saudi Aramco Materials System Specification (SAMSSs), Engineering Standards (SAESs}, Standards Drawings (SASDs) or industry standards, codes, and forms shall be resolved in writing by the
company through the Manager, Consulting Services Department. For any predefined waiver, request shall be raised before one month prior to start work.
