Drive Test Configuration:

We connected 3 Mobiles for coverage/quality test and the testing procedure for UMTS drive is as follows:

  1. MS1: UMTS Lock (30sec call 10sec idle).
  2. MS2: Auto Mode (180sec call 10sec idle).
  3. MS1: UMTS Lock – continuous download through FTP/Internet
Overview:
Cluster 6 is a remote cluster and has very less number of sites.  Drive for Cluster 6 was conducted to check the
impact of 40W implementation. Coverage and quality comparison of post 40W and pre drives conducted in
November 2014 is shown below
  • RSCP has lowered as compared to pre drive due to multiple reasons.
  • Cluster 6 is a remote cluster and a lot of area is being served by overshoots where there aren’t  any dedicated sites to serve the purpose.
  • Pre drive was conducted in November 2014 and network was a lot less loaded at that time so with the increase in number of users the footprint has also shrinked.
  • EcNo is significantly better in post drive. Major factor in improved EcNo is that in pre drive both CS and PS services was checked in one single drive and due to high power usage of HSPA services, EcNo was degraded.
Whereas in current drives, methadology is changed an bit with separate drives for CS and PS are being conducted

in cluster drives.

  1. Weak Coverage at G13/G14
Currently, there is no on-air 3G sites in the area and it is being covered by surrounding sites overshoot.
3G coverage will improve with the help of new sites. However for improvement of QOS and reduce
multiserver redesigns can be performed.

Summary

Following actions are required for improvement of coverage in the ISB_Cluster 06.
  • Need to on air sites in G13 and G14 for good coverage
  • Redesigns are required to cater over shooters creating illogical serving and multi dominancy
