HVAC System Installation and Commissioning for Communication Building
Communication Buildings
- Verify the HVAC systems of Communication Buildings is designed for 22°C (71.6°F) indoor air dry bulb temperature and shall be able to maintain this temperature within ± 2°C (± 3.6°F). The HVAC systems shall also provide humidity control to keep the indoor air relative humidity level at 50% with a ± 10% tolerance.
- Ensure that the cooling load calculations is prepared with 0.5 air change per hour infiltration rate for HVAC systems which do not have any fresh air make-up.
- Ensure that the HVAC systems of Communication Facilities have fresh air make-up filters (where fresh air make-up is used) and internal air recirculation filters.
- Verify that the fresh air make-up filters have a minimum of 25% dust spot efficiency and the internal air recirculation filters have a pre-filter with a minimum of 25% dust spot efficiency and a final filter with a minimum of 60% dust spot efficiency, as measured by ASHRAE 52 test method.
- Ensure that Viscous oil filters are not used for Communication Facilities.
Equipment Room
- Verify that a stand-alone HVAC unit with independent controls is specified and provided for the telecommunication equipment room when the building’s air conditioning (HVAC) equipment cannot ensure continuous operation (including weekends and holidays).
- Verify that the following minimum Environmental Factor requirements are met for the Equipment Room HVAC system installation :
• Temperature range 18 to 24°C (64 to 75°F)
• Humidity range relative 30 to 55%
• Heat dissipation hour 750 to 5,000 BTUs per cabinet.” - Verify that each telecommunication equipment room is having an independent HVAC system control to control it’s own environment.
- Verify that IFC design package include information identifying the maximum expected heat dissipation from each piece of equipment that the HVAC system is designed to allow for a 20% minimum increase in equipment.
Telecommunication Closet
Verify that closet is provided with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning that will maintain:
• Temperature range of 10°C (50°F) to 35°C (95°F), within + 5°C (+ 9°F).
• Continuous environmental control (24 hours per day, 356 days per year).
Verify that positive pressure with minimum of one air change per hour in the telecommunication closet is maintained. Air handling equipment must:
• Dissipate the heat generated by active devices.
• Satisfy applicable building codes.
Passively Cooled Communications Shelters
Verify the inside air temperature of Passively Cooled Communications Shelters is not exceeding 37°C and the Thermal Performance Tests is performed at the factory.
Verify that the cooling systems of Shelters built on site is subjected to a factory Thermal Performance Test.
