Ductbank Manhole and Handhole Hardware Material Selection & Checklist

1. Verify Received materials have been inspected for damages and for compliance to applicable requirements and proper storage methods.
2. Verify Material Storage and Protection is as per Manufacturer’s Recommendation
3. Verify the received material Comply with project PO specification and shall conform to all applicable requirements, standards, and specifications prior to release to be used as part of the work
4. Verify that the received materials are new and unused.
5. Verify that material and accessories are in accordance with the Saudi Aramco-approved project-specific design drawings, diagrams, schedules, lists, databases, and associated design documents
6. Verify and insure all manhole hardware must be of the non-corrosive type(i,e. hot dipped galvanized or better)
7. Verify and ensure the reinforcing steel conform to ASTM-615 CR. 50 with minimum yield strength, FY-345 MPa (50.000 PSI) bars shall be epoxy coated in accordance with 09-SAMS-106. All reinforcing bars shall comply with SASO-SSA2/2000.
8. Verify the received manhole hardware include a non-metallic plastic inserts.
9. Verify the received manhole hardware contain a minimum of #6 AWG tinned solid copper wire for grounding.
10. Verify the received manhole hardware contain a minimum of one 3.05 x 16mm copper coated steel ground rod.
11. Verify the manhole hardware contains pulling in irons, cable rack, S-angle support for cable racks, cable hook, manhole step with 400 mm wide x 250 mm length x 19mm dia., ladder and steps, two way duct terminators and ground rod with a minimum of 5/8 inches in diameter by 10 feet in length.
12. Verify the manhole frame and cover is Type B, 30 inch and shall have identifying mark “TELEPHONE” stamped in the cover.
13. Verify that all received manhole frame and cover are made of cast iron and conform to SASO Standard, SSA 413, “Cast Iron Manhole Covers” and equipped with two locking bolts located approximately 180 degrees apart on the cover’s circumference.
14. Verify that all received manhole hardware are made of the non-corrosive type (i.e., hot dipped galvanized or better).
15. Verify Equipment and materials identification procedure is implemented for the received items.
16. Ensure that equipment and accessories shall be traceable from the manufacturer and supplier through delivery, storage, fabrication, erection, installation, repair, modification and use.
