QC Before Installation- Very High Voltage Cable Accessories shall conform to all applicable requirements, standards, and specifications prior to release to be used as part of work.

Cable Accessories shall be new and unused.
Very High Voltage Cable Accessories shall be in accordance with the approved project-specific design drawings, diagrams, schedules, lists, databases, and associated design documents.

Compression (crimped) type connectors shall be used for splicing and terminating stranded conductors. The use of solder lugs is prohibited.
Compression terminal connectors for 4/0 and larger conductors shall be two hole NEMA design.
All compression connectors shall have a manufacturer’s reference compression die number and conductor size printed or stamped on the connector.
All compression connectors shall be tinned copper.
All threaded cable fittings including glands for metric size cables shall have tapered (NPT) threads in accordance with ANSI/ASME B1.20.1.
AWG connectors may be used for metric size conductors, and vice versa, provided the connector range spans the actual cross-sectional area of the conductor.
Cable glands shall be in accordance with BS 6121 or BS 50262, except threads shall have tapered (NPT) threads in accordance with ANSI/ASME B1.20.1.
Check the termination and splicing kit (Raychem) are rated for Very High Voltage and are suitable for the equipment to be terminated at as per the IFC drawing.
Check the cable pulling lubricant, hot and cold shrink insulation tubing; electrical tape; cable straps and ties; crimp wire connectors; VHV cable termination kits; bulk electrical nuts and washers; crimping tools & dies are compatible with the cable being used. NEC 110.3B
