Cable reels of Very High Voltage Cable shall be checked for damage by store yard personnel prior to acceptance of shipment, unloading, or handling. No visible shipping or handling damage. NEC 110.3B and Manufacturer’s Instructions |
Very High Voltage Cable shall be new and unused. |
Very High Voltage Cable shall be in accordance with the Saudi Aramco-approved project-specific design drawings, diagrams, schedules, lists, databases, and associated design documents. |

Power cables rated 69 KV and above, with solid dielectric insulation, shall comply with either AEIC CS6 (69 KV EPR insulated cable) or AEIC CS7 (69 KV and above XLPE insulated cable). |
Insulation thickness shall be in accordance with the tables in these standards (e.g., 16.5 mm (650 mils) for 69 Kv rated cables and 20.3 mm (800 mils) for 115 KV rated cables), not reduced thickness based on maximum stress design. |
Cables shall be marked to indicate the following information and shall be repeated at intervals not exceeding 1.0 m (40 in.). a) Rated Voltage b) Type of cable c) Manufacturer’s name, Trademark d) The AWG size or circular mil area NEC 310.11 Check that the end cap (seal) of cable is heat-shrinkable.
