POWER TRANSFORMER LIFTING WORK

This article is about how to perform lifting work of power transformer and how to set power transformer assembly.

POWER TRANSFORMER LIFTING WORK

  • Check the actual location and foundation dimension against the vendor equipment drawings of the equipment’s to be installed.
  • Haul the transformer from the equipment stock yard and transport it adjacent to the transformer foundation location using a suitable crane and low bed trailer assisted by craftsman.
  • Drill holes and fixed the support using suitable expansion anchoring materials.
Check equipment location and orientation prior to the installation to its foundation.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient walkways are provided to cross trenches and around Transformers and wherever it is applicable and necessary.
TRANSFORMER LIFTING
  • Having confirmed the exact location and orientation lift the transformer on the provided lifting eye and position it on top of the foundation. Gradually lower the equipment to the foundation.
  • For loading and unloading of transformer in the transport truck is by the use Hydraulic crane, capacity shall be check and compare to transformer weight. Take note for the lifting hooks installed in transformer for the lifting point. See below image for actual transformer lifting set-up.
  • The Transformer shall be moved into position on the foundation. The image below the typical transformer foundation details of anchorage.
  • Secure the transformer by fixing the anchoring materials.
  • Bond the transformer to its dedicated safety grounding bus bar as described in  SAES-P-111 .
  • Any damage or scratches paint on the Transformer required to touch-up paint,  applicable paint was provided by the Vendor.
  • Transformer installation and assembly shall be inspected by SAIC-P-3925 Rev.
