Erection of Radiant Tubes Tools and Equipment

Tools and equipment needed should be in good condition and must be checked by Mechanical Supervisor/Safety Officer prior to use in the construction area. These Includes but not limited to:
1 Calibrated engineering level with calibration certificate
2  Certified sling and hoists

Preparatory Works:

  • Secure work permit prior to work commence.
  • Tools and equipment shall be made operational and available for use. Ensure tools are color-coded accordingly. Calibration certification where required shall be in valid dates.
  • Prior to the arrival of equipment on site, company must review the manufacturer’s requirement and the requirements of this Project Specification regarding site storage of the equipment. These requirements shall be incorporated with the preservation plan in all respects.
  • Mobilize all manpower, tools and equipment needed for the job.
  • Check the availability of material according to the erection sequence.
  • Install barricades to confine the area for authorized personnel only.

Procedure for Erection of Radiant Tubes Located at Furnace

  • Prepare lifting location where the crane will be located and positioned.
  • Prepare and set all rigging accessories according to arrangement.
  • Checked wind condition, lift shall not proceed when wind velocity is greater than required of crane.
  • Stabilized ground areas where crane will be located and positioned. Crane mats shall be provided in accordance to findings of soil bearing pressure.
  • Make sure that all rigging plans are approved prior to erect equipments.
  • Installation of radiant tubes will commence after acceptance of radiant wall panels and manifold support structure.

  • Radiant tubes should be delivered with temporary bracing steelworks.
  • Radiant tubes will be delivered to construction site by a trailer. Unload by crawler crane (main crane) and mobile crane (tailing crane).
  • Make sure that radiant tubes are completely drained prior for erection.
  • Rig-up of radiant tubes will follow a sequential installation and shall ensure balanced distribution of loading on temporary steel brace.
  • Move radiant tubes to the required location using crane.

  • Prior for alignment of radiant tubes and manifold assembly, remove temporary frame base on site situation.
  • Install H-beam and roller stand under manifold properly for alignment.
  • Alignment and verticality of radiant tubes & manifold assembly with H-beam and roller stand will be done using total station, A-Frame, shimming plates, spirit level, pipe clamps and etc.
  • Over-length pipe will be cut and beveled after alignment of radiant & manifold assembly.
  • After plumbness, levelness & alignment are done by contractor QC Inspector will inspect the manifold & radiant tubes assembly prior for fit-up.
  • After acceptance of fit-up install support inside manifold at both side of welding line (spider frame / any applicable support) to avoid distortion and deflection during PWHT then proceed to full welding.
  • Pressure testing will be done after manifold assembly line is full welded with respect to project schedule.
  • Installation of radiant floor panel shall commence after acceptance of radiant tubes and manifold. (see attachment B for installation detail)
  • Install other parts of spring hanger as needed. (refer to detail “B” marked-up by green color)
